Cosmetic Dentistry Newcastle

Cosmetic dentistry is a specialised branch of dentistry that is dedicated to correcting dental and gum imperfections in order to improve the appearance of the smile. Although its main objective is aesthetics, it also deals with oral health, since a beautiful smile must be free of cavities and periodontal diseases.

In addition, some of these treatments focus not only on aesthetics but also on the function of the teeth and jaw, for example, correcting problems such as dental alignment and bite. Each patient is unique and therefore these aesthetic treatments are tailored to the individual needs and preferences of each patient. This allows for personalised results that suit different lifestyles and aesthetic expectations.

Over the last decade, smile makeovers have become incredibly popular and the range of treatments is increasing at a rapid rate. There is now a treatment available for almost any flaw and these are becoming more accessible, affordable and beneficial than ever before. Smile makeovers aim to enhance the aesthetics of the smile which in turn can help:

  • Boost confidence
  • Make you look younger
  • Improve quality of life

Studies and surveys show that people consider their smile to be one of their most important features.

Thanks to aesthetic treatments, it is possible to improve not only the appearance of the teeth, but also the harmony of the face. Likewise, these treatments seek to balance the bite, correct dental alignment and improve the shape and color of the teeth. It is important to mention that in addition to the aesthetic benefits, cosmetic dentistry can also contribute to improving long-term oral health.

One of the most important factors to achieve the desired aesthetic results is to have a highly trained and experienced professional, here we have them! Services Overview

Teeth whitening

It is a dental procedure to lighten the color of teeth. Through the use of safe and non-abrasive whitening substances, superficial stains and pigmentations are eliminated, achieving a more uniform and brighter dental tone.

Benefits: It is a non-invasive and relatively quick procedure, usually requiring one or two sessions to obtain visible results. By eliminating dental stains and pigmentations, it also significantly improves the aesthetics of the smile, giving greater confidence to the patient.

Who it is indicated for: Tooth whitening is indicated for patients with stains caused by the consumption of food and coloring beverages (coffee, tea, wine, soft drinks), smoking, use of certain medications (tetracycline). Stains due to aging, dental trauma or endodontic treatments. Also due to prolonged use of the oral antiseptic Chlorhexidine.

Porcelain veneers

These are thin sheets of ceramic that are bonded to the anterior surface of the teeth to improve their appearance (in terms of shape, color or position). Among the esthetic problems they can correct are: worn or chipped teeth, stains, spaces between neighboring teeth, among others.

Benefits: They achieve a significant improvement in the aesthetics of the smile, are resistant to stains and have a prolonged duration. In addition, they can help correct minor dental alignment problems and restore chewing function. By improving the aesthetics of the smile, they can also increase the patient’s self-esteem and confidence.

Process: The process of getting porcelain veneers begins with a detailed consultation with the dentist to assess the condition of the smile and the factors to be improved. Next, the dentist will prepare the teeth by removing a thin layer of enamel from the front surfaces to make room for the veneer and adhesive. Next, they will take an impression of the teeth that will be used by the dental lab to fabricate the custom veneers, as well as perform a shade test to ensure the perfect color for a natural, aesthetic look. Once the veneers are ready, they are bonded to the teeth with a special adhesive and checked for fit and correct bite.

Invisalign

It is an orthodontic system that uses transparent and removable aligners to correct dental alignment problems. These aligners are custom-made for each patient, adjusting perfectly to their teeth and gums. As a virtually invisible treatment, it is an excellent option for those seeking an aesthetic and discreet solution to correct their smile.

How it works: Invisalign treatment consists of the successive use of a series of aligners, which are changed from time to time (normally each aligner is used for 2 weeks). Each set of aligners applies a gentle and constant force on the teeth, gradually moving them to the desired position, achieving balanced contacts between the upper and lower teeth and, of course, correcting the aesthetics of the smile. The duration of treatment and the number of aligners to be used varies according to the complexity of the case, but in order to achieve fast and effective results, the patient should ideally wear the aligners for as many hours as possible during the day.

Ideal candidates: Ideal candidates for Invisalign are those who wish to correct problems such as crowded teeth, neighboring teeth with gaps between them, crossbite, teeth rotated or tilted forward or backward, etc.

Dental Bonding and Dental Contouring

Dental bonding: It is a dental procedure with an aesthetic focus that is often used to treat minor imperfections. A composite resin is applied to the surface of the tooth to modify its shape, colour or size. Before applying the resin, the tooth is prepared to ensure better adhesion of the material.

Dental contouring: Also known as tooth reshaping, this procedure involves the removal of small portions of tooth enamel to modify the shape or length of teeth. It is a quick and simple technique used to correct chipped, cracked or overlapping teeth. Tooth contouring is often combined with dental bonding for more aesthetic results.

Both procedures are minimally invasive and are performed without the need for anaesthesia in most cases. The results are immediate and can help to significantly improve the appearance of the smile.
